Through a rich mix of weekly classes, exam syllabi, class presentations, and full-scale theatre productions, students are encouraged to stretch their abilities, collaborate as part of a team, and discover their own strength. Along the way, they learn to embrace challenges, celebrate milestones, and build the kind of life skills that will support them well into adulthood.

There’s no selection process at MTSD—every child who walks through our doors is welcomed with the same enthusiasm and belief in their potential to be excellent. We embrace all ages and ability levels, giving each student the chance to improve and enjoy dance in a way that’s meaningful to them. Members past and present often describe MTSD as their “second family,” a place where children feel truly seen, supported, and connected. It’s a community where lifelong friendships take root and cherished memories are made, both in and out of the studio. Our full-scale dance productions create especially powerful moments of togetherness, bringing dancers, parents, and the wider community into a shared celebration of creativity and teamwork. Since 2015, we’ve also been proud to give back, raising more than £10,000 for local charities—a testament to the generosity and spirit that define MTSD.

Meet Selina Marsh
Expert teaching grounded in a love of theatrical storytelling.
Selina Marsh - principal and owner of Marsh Tompsett School of Dance—has dedicated her life to performing, creating, and inspiring others. As the sole teacher and choreographer at MTSD, she draws on her extensive background as a professional actor, singer and dancer (in both West End Theatre and on television), offering students a truly well-rounded and industry-informed approach to training. As a fully affiliated and qualified member of the ISTD, Selina blends precise technical instruction with the artistry and insight she has gained from years on stage. Her expectations are high, but they’re delivered with warmth, encouragement, and genuine care, creating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow into their most expressive and capable self.
